my d300 seems to overexpose on most every shot. my ev is almost always turned down.
someone told me that it is because my white balance is off. I shoot auto because I'm shooting almost non stop from 5 pm to 8pm.
what does everybody else think?

WB will only affect the colors it shouldn't affect your exposure.
If you are shooting in auto mode, you may be in Matrix metering mode, IIRC.
It will read the light from the whole scene and meter accordingly. If you are shooting with darker or lighter background than the subject, the metering may be fooled and over/under expose accordingly.

    Dave,

Some example images demonstrating the problem (with EXIF) might help identify the cause.

Are you saying that you shoot in "Auto" mode?

What specifically are your camera settings?

    Hey Dave,

The D300 shoots more to the right than prior Nikon bodies but there's lots of ways to address that. Post a few pics with your exif settings so we can get an idea of where the problem might be.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

auto white balance not auto program.

see, now that's what I thought...but she was very convincing, so I thought I'd ask my friends here.
