There is an old train station in the middle of town that was put out of commission a long time ago. I had a some time to kill today so I thought I would go shoot some pics. Here's what i came up with:

Old abandoned car:

3436679923232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2338%3D6%3A%3B%3D377%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3C5%3C79%3B57ot1lsi

The train station in color:

3436679923232%7Ffp45%3Dot%3E2338%3D6%3A%3B%3D377%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3C5%3C79%3B54ot1lsi

In B&W, which I prefer:

3436679923232%7Ffp46%3Dot%3E2338%3D6%3A%3B%3D377%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3C5%3C79%3B55ot1lsi

Thanks for looking. As always critiques or improvement ideas welcomed.

I like that look.thumb.gif I'll have to do some playing with PS to see if I can come close to that. Thanks for the view.

Here the link to the filters (free download). It's a lot of fun, I am using with PS 6.

Thanks Gary. I'm using elements 3 and it works for that also. Looks like there are some good filters in there for me to experiment with.

    Thanks,

    Eric,

I enjoyed the other images but, the composition and subject of this one is cool to look at. My first impression tho', is that the contrast is a bit extreme. I can see how you may have been doing this for effect but, it is not quite doing it for me. Unfortunately, I don't have suggestions to fix it due to my lack of ps skills- I just keep working with itne_nau.gif

My impression is that the color train station shot could be oversaturated and blurred to give it a neat, dreamy effect.

    Eric,

If you want that "dated" look, then B&W, sepia, or some variation of duotone would work well, IMO. For color, there's not much happening in the scene, so I agree with Sid. either some sort of dreamy color look like what you get from say the Ethereal Glow Action. Or, maybe even a paint treatment like the Hayes Island Cafe Action.

Not that your images or treatments were bad. Just a couple of ideas to take these types of shots beyond the ordinary :D

And what's up with that old railcar? eek7.gif Don't you guys sell spraypaint up there? :lol :lol There's not much graffiti on that car. Down here, they tag them while they are rolling down the tracks.....lol lol3.gif

I thing the contrast is a little to much also but that is what I was going for. Unfortunately the sun was shining real bright and kinda made the pic not so good so in trying to salvage this is what I came up with and I kinda like it. When I have more time maybe I'll try to work it some more or better yet I'll just go re shoot it. Thank you for the advice!!!

Actually there isn't alot of graffiti around here, at least not that I see. I kinda wish there was more. After growing up in LA I kinda came to appreciate some of the murals that they create, almost an artwork:D
