New here, need help with CNAME

Hello.

I had a Better Photo website. I was not happy so I let it expire. I had a heck of a time getting my domain. I had to renew it thru www.domainpeople.com, then I had issues getting BP to release it to them. Well it is finally done and it is point to my smug mug acct. digitalsbydanna.smugmug.com. My problem is in the URL is still shows the smugmug name and not digitalsbydanna.com . When I do a search it comes up but I don't want the smug mug to show. I have read the CNAME threads but am TOTALLY lost. I change the place where I insert my domain but it is still the same in the URL.

Help please.

Danna - In your control Panel on SmugMug, go into the settings tab. On the settings tab, there is something that says 'domain'. Did you put in your domain there?

I took a look at your domain and it appears that it is being forwarded or redirected at yournickname.smugmug.com address. You DO NOT want to do that as the result is what you are seeing.

The proper way is to use a CNAME and A record. I have instructions for setting that up here http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts
