My guess, without knowing anything about the lenses, is that the first is a bit more than a 10x zoom while the second is a bit more then a 4x zoom. IIRC, the larger the zoom range, the more difficult it is to engineer/manufacture. If that's true, then it would seem reasonable for the first to be more expensive than the second.
these are the 2 lense i plan to buy the Tamron SP AF Di 90mm f/2.8 macro and the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR
is this a wise choice? i choose the 70-300 vr over the 18-200 vr not because of the price but cause i need the extra length
As what Scott wrote, it is more difficult to make a bigger zoom. Furthermore, the wider the angle, the more curve on the lens, more difficult to built and the bigger aparture need a bigger glass (more glass). It results in more expensive.
Depends on what you like to take. The marco is fun but limited use. 70-300 on crop body may be too long for daily use. I like 18-200 on the 1.5/1.6X body which gives me about 40 to 300 mm. It can cover most of daily use and great travel lens.
Because they 18-200 is more expensive to make and was more expensive to develop. 70-300mm designs have been around for decades.

I think that's exactly right. I've had a 70-300 nonVR for a long time. It's actually quite a good lens, despite what people say about it.
