I borrowed a 10 - 22 for this last wedding. This baby is crazy wide.

Canon. it was cool for the variety of it. Distorts--as it would have to to be that wide--when people are in the wrong place in the frame. I imagine you could get used to that.

On the whole, it might be about the 3rd lens I buy, behind
    17 - 55 2.8
    70 - 200

truthfully, once I have the 17 - 55, I am not sure i need to go wider than that. It was fun, but $700 is a lot for fun.

    Plus...the 4.5/5.6 isn't a gas either....pretty useless in low light...wide is cool but only if it's fast.

    I was torn on that.
I took these three from the same spot with the 10-22, 17-55 and 24-70 at their widest on the 40D.

What a difference it seemed to me.

the problem with the 10 - 22 is it is so wide it distorts/ bends. I went around the room taking a shot of everyone that the reception. At the table below, you can see the whole table is on. But, not always the most flattering. I am sure with more skill you could avoid the problems, but if you are not careful you can sure make people look goofy.

also, it is not the sharpest glass ever.

it is fun, though, and it sure makes your pics look different.

Only if they give you a bundle of cash upon entry through the Pearly Gates. :ivar Plus if they put me in the Nikon section I'd know immediately that I'd ended up in hell instead Laughing.gifLaughing.gifLaughing.gif just kidding folks.

It's actually 3.5 to 4.5 - still not fast, but fast enough for the job sometimes.

Yes, that is a slice of heaven. :D
I can't wait until they finish remodeling. They still haven't reopened the old camera section.
I must admit I'm still amazed by how wide the 24 end of the 24-70 is not on the 40D!!! My focal point was the 40 sign by the way.
