Play Day

Took the day off from work today to play a bit. The local Indians have a small park nearby that has a rose garden in it. Most of the roses were already passing. Thought I'd play a bit with natural light versus fill flash to see what the results were. What do you think? All shosts have been noise adjusted, that's all.

Like this one just because a hover landed right before the shot.

My $0.02, for what it's worth...
The first flower isn't all in focus, deeper DOF would have been nice. In general, I prefer natural light and only use fill flash when I absolutely HAVE to use it -- but that's a personal preference, and likely not shared by most folks.
For instance, your last pair of shots -- the fill flash took care of some slightly harsh shadows, but at the cost of making parts of the flower look washed out. What kind of diffuser are you using on the fill flash?
