I uploaded a PNG to a gallery, and I'd like to use the image in an HREF, but I can't determine the file name to use in the HREF. Here's the gallery:

    I clicked your share photo button and found this as one of the options.

    All the sizes are shown as jpg's, if you had originals turned on perhaps the
    original would show as a png.

    Allen,
    That's not the image in the gallery I'm having a problem with. That one is a jpg. It's the last image in the galery. It's a small copy of the SmugMug logo as a png.

    Also where are you seeing my share photo button? I thought I have that turned off.

    Why a png? Png should be used only when you need transparency :)

    Sharing? Try this btw

    .share_button {display: none;}
    .loggedIn .share_button {display: block;}

    then the button will only show to YOU while logged in, (and you have easy sharing enabled in the gallery).

    For the transparency and also to test uploading and using a png in a gallery. Are there restrictions on which extensions can be uploaded and used? For instance why can't we store our favicon in a gallery, or can we?

    That file doesn't need transparency, that I can tell...

    You can up jpgs and pngs and gifs http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-photos if you have a SmugVault you can upload anything :D

    But even a favicon would only be for archival storage - not for linking - do like I suggest in the FAQ and put it on pages.google.com or some other free site.

    Guess I missed that help page. Thanks for the link.
    Already did like you suggested and created a GooglePages page. Works fine.

    Any ideas why I can't determine the file name of the png I uploaded? Please navigate to the link I provided above and let me know if you can determine the file name. I can determine the names of the 3 jpgs that are also in that gallery -- just not the png. Thanks.

    do your self a favor :)
    http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/5196106_kWbLZ/1/316825202_QFvZ6/Large suggestion please: - make a new gallery NOT forced to journal, allow sharing, make it private.. call it "site files" that's what I do. Then you can easily see the file names.

    PNGs should be linked as -O original btw.

    PS: I'd like to use the logo on my "Services" page and have it also print properly if a customer decides to print that page. Any thoughts on how to accomplish that? (white text on dark bg for the page, and dark text on white bg for printing)

    Thanks for the suggestion. The gallery I use for storing site files is named Miscellaneous. I set it to private and allow sharing (journal style didn't matter) and low and behold I am able to determine file names by clicking the Share button. Thanks.

    Prior to enabling allow sharing, I was able to determine the file names of .jpg files in that gallery by right clicking on the image and selecting properties. The properties dialog box lists the file name. That technique doesn't work with .png files. I was able to determine the .png file names by viewing source and searching for ".png".

    I vaguely recall seeing something in the help about determining file names and the share button.

    Thanks again.
