Cuuute. Until you realize the cat is thinking about clawing the lungs out of the squirrel just outside the window.
this little camera is pretty cool.
it has a video mode w/ sound, that'll hold 8 minutes on a 128mb chip
an auto- idiot proof mode
a PASM mode where you can change the fstop, shutter speed and exposure.
a sport mode
a portrait mode
and a night mode
the PASM mode uses P to adjust the exposure, A to adjust the apature, S to adjust the shutter speed and M to adjust the apature and speed. and you can adjust back to factory settings quickly
set it down and it'll power itself down. it has 16mb of internal memory plus you can add chips
it has 4 modes of picture quality, best***, best (3.2) *** Better ** and good *
best *** get you 94 pics with a 128mb chip @ 4.0 mp
best 3.2 gets 117 @ 3.5 mp
better gets 167 @ 2.1 mp
good gets 275 @ 1.1 mp
it has a little half push feature on the button to focus and frame a shot. it also has some functions to change ISO, white balance, color, exposure metering, focus zones, and sharpness. you can also pre set albums.
not bad. now to learn how to really use it without carrying the OM around.
ok so where is some freeware shareware to edit .mov files?? I was playing around with the video mode today at the driving range working on my "lost" golf swing and I had to rotate the the camera 90 degrees on the tripod to get the top of the swing. now when I play them back, of course it's sideways. I need to rotate the file 90 degrees. help!!
and I tested the durability of the camera. :yikes a big gust of wind blew the tripod over. :dgrin so far so good.
and another report. memory. as the the chip fills up, but even though you have memory location set to Auto, you have to manually change it to internal to use that available memory.
I don't know of any freeware programs for manipulating movies. I wonder if they exist? I'm thinking that to correct the sideways image, you'd need a program that can render the clip. It's possible that we're talking $$$ here.
I saw a friend shooting with this camera and the first thing I noticed was how big the screen was for a P&S camera, 2.2 inches. That is a great feature and it looks to have a great lens. I did not get a chance to use it but it looks well built.

Anyone?
Waxie, can't you get the evil smiley on here...you know...I need it!
so far, so good, with the little dx6490. I went and got the 256mb chip and another battery. I'm going to order the separate battery charger from kodak. I'd like to be able to charge a battery while using the camera. the dock station does a great job transferring photos and charging. you can plug in just the camera to the station's ac cord to charge batteries.
playing with the zoom. the blurriness is by my hand and clicking the button. I need to read the OM for the other features.
I bought the DX6490 last October as soon as they showed up for sale here. This Kodak beat out a 10X coolpix and another 10X that I forget the name of. I love it. It's a great little camera. The only thing missing is a manual focus. I could use that sometimes. It's frustrating to watch it go through focus and keep going back and forth several time and stop out of focus.

so far that is my only complaint. but, I knew about it going in. it's a cool little camera for how I use it. the next one will have that feature.
so you take a new camera to a minor league game and what do you learn? 1. those guys, years and years ago, that took pics of games with Ruth, DiMaggio, etc were amazing 2. sports photography is tough.
Yeah, it's tough shooting live action. I learned that once again, trying to shoot the bicyclists. It's a whole new set of instincts, and timing is king. Speaking of which, you got your timing right on this one.

Nice shots! Keep up the good work and do share that work with us.
The barn series looks good. Where where the cannons taken?

That's a really nice shot. Excellent colors and the cat's eyes are great.
