I had a small problem with my Mac but everything - almost - is OK now.:D

These are shots I made with my new Canon 5D, flash left hand 1 meter away.

I really like #1. You did a great job of balancing the light and drawing focus to the subject. #2, aside be a bit too dark (difficult not to be), just doesn't have a real point of interest. I find my eyes roaming all over the place looking for something to capture my attention. Not a bad photo by any means but if maybe more light was thrown on the keyboardist, it would draw him out a bit more.
