So, if you have been watching TV lately, you might have seen the "actor", Ashton Kutcher, promoting Nikon D60 cameras. And pointing to a contest called "Making Memories".
Well, I entered and I made it to the finals. The top 120 finalists (which I'm part of) get voted on by the public and Nikon gives away 60 Nikon D60 cameras. That means I have a one-in-two chance of winning a D60. And the top prize is a trip to Hollywood.
The winner is based on the number of votes each photo gets - So, friends, if you like my shot, a vote would be appreciated! And if you choose, you can vote once a day! What's the saying, "vote early and vote often!"
Here's the link to view and if you feel so inclined, vote for me:

And here's what the shot looks like:
Funny thing, while I've got a couple of Nikon bodies, this shot was taken with a 6 year old 3mp Canon Point & Shoot (shot on manual).

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

you might not want to mention the pic was from a canon body though
I've got to admit, seeing Ashton chimping during that commercial almost makes me deny that I'm a Nikonian.
But that's neither here nor there - congratulations and good luck!

I think I'm a longshot even though there are 60 cameras to be given away. I think others have been campaigning a lot more than I have for votes. I have a hard time asking others to vote for my entry in a photo contest but that's what they invited the finalists to do.
Here's the message I received when the finalists were announced:
Congratulations John.
