Today, I made a terrific find! Some of the first pictures I ever took. I didn't know I still had these, I took them with me unknowingly when I moved from Germany to New York City in 1991 and carried them along ever since. Long story, but tonight they showed up when cleaning out a closet and I dropped an old folder which presumably held snapshots that hung on my wall back in my college days in Germany.
In 1984 my uncle gave me his old SLR camera as a gift, a Minolta XG-7: http://www.rokkorfiles.com/XG%20Series.htm I was 15 years old and didn't have a clue how to use the thing. So I got a book from the library and read up on it as much as I could. That summer, my Mom took me for a vacation in Southern France and I got a chance to try out my new toy. To be honest, tonight I was amazed as to how well the pics turned out. And they were taken with rather unforgiving slide film, Kodachrome 64!!!
After a while I put photography onto a back burner and didn't pick it up again until years later. But here are some of my first shots, scanned straight onto the pc, no Photoshop applied. Cute, aren't they? And I am amazed at that Kodachrome quality!!!
