The Tour of Pennsylvania cycling event held this past week was kind of a big deal. It is the only Tour de France type of race held in the US. It was limited to young riders. It covered several days and 450 miles. I was able to take some pictures of the fnish of the 4th stage in Latrobe PA. Hope you enjoy and C&C welcomed.

One of the event trucks:

It rained very hard about 30 min. before the riders came to town:

These shots are from the last corner before the sprint to the finish:

Great shots...the rain adds something to these shots...it had to be miserable riding in that weather.

By the way, Georgia has a "Tour de France" type race each year called the "Tour de Georgia" . I am not sure of the distance they cover, but they are all over the state...in the mountains of north Georgia, down along the coast in Savannah, Georgia, and they end up in downtown Atlanta.

Don't forget the Tour of California as well. I believe there is one in Alabama too.

And don't forget the Red Zinger held in Colorado. Oh wait, they haven't had that one in over 25 years. Guess I'm showing my age....mwink.gif

Thanks for the comments. About the race, here is a quote from the website:

"The race is… The very first Tour de France-style “espoir” race in the United States (“Espoir,” French for “hope,” denotes the race is for up-and-coming riders under the age of 25)."

So, I guess it's the age group that makes it a unique event.

    Ted
