fisheye-wide angle or what

I would love to do some shots with an inexpensive fisheye lens or lens attachment. Experimenting and testing skills and edge of envelope of a camera have sometimes been expensive. I have been seeing so called fisheye/wide angle that attach to front of exsisting lens...$40-$80. Are they going to give me a nice fisheye? I want to look up into trees or highrises and see them bend inwards. Or for extreems lay on my back, shoot towards the sky and see horizon all aroud, 360 degrees. Part of the description on these lenses is .42x, .30x and .25x. What does that mean? OK so I am not knowlegable on this topic and I want all for low price. I have had nice 18mm lenses in the past and got me spoiled. So make fun then help me with what you know please!

The camera used is a digital Canon D60. I have several EF lenses: 22-55mm, 35-135mm, 50mm and a 100-300mm. All USM Canon. No SI or L. The filter thread size 58mm.

You could use a Sigma or Pengleng 8-10mm fisheye. These are over your price range but will work with the camera.

I'd be leary of a screw on adapter but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try one. Your shots just won't be as crisp and clear as you'd expect.

To save money, you can buy used or even rent when you feel you want to try the lens.
