I'm shopping around for a new photo hosting/sharing/etc. site (flickr refugee as of TODAY) and obviously I've stumbled upon Smugbug and Zenfolio, as well as others. I'm definitely drawn to SM and I've been checking out the pros and cons of each. Thanks to everyone for all the great and honest comments, I look forward to making a decision soon!

I too was looking back about 2yrs ago....searched and searched and wound up with a SM acct (PRO acct at that)............we all have discount codes to get new members a small discount on the first years subscription most of us have them posted in our signatures.
I looked all the ones like Zenfolio (dug the name as I had started studying Buddhism:D) and then looked at the ones with all kinds of interfaces for printing and keeping records etc.......etc......when SM popped up it was much simpler and less costly and then I found Dgrin and since they are actually a part of each other that made the final decision a lot easier.

    Good luck with your decision.

I'm pretty much sold, but I'm a bit afraid to pull the trigger because I'm unsure I'll be able to acheive the same results I've seen from other SM users.

I'm in love with a few web-layouts and I'm code-inept, so I'll be looking for a lot of help. One site I saw was so perfect, I'd basically like to copy the entire thing!

Hey, got your PM :) Keep things in the public forum - we do it all in the forum, okay?

Here's the direct link to the customizing forum: http://www.dgrin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31 and here's a great thread to start out with, for your customization needs: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=52812.

If you'd like to see some of the possibilities, have a look here: http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1801307 for some really well done SmugMug sites!

So how do I proceed? If I know the layout and style I'm looking for, how do I make it happen?

Post your request over in the SmugMug Customization forum. And include as much information as you can about how you'd like your site to look. Most of the folks who can help look over there and not in Dgrin Forum Support section.

If you haven't already looked at the >>> CUSTOMIZATION: Start here <<< thread in that forum, that's a great place to start. It has links to several tutorials as well as to some frequently asked questions documents. See http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=52812.
