I've made sales on my site to family and for two hired shoots, but I've never had someone unrelated to me in any way decide to buy one of my prints...until today!!! This to me feels like my first real sale. It's silly how giddy it's made me. :barb :ivar

I find it so random what will appeal to others. This is not a photo I took to sell; it's just a nice memento for me of a very dear pet:

I'm thrilled somebody loved it enough to buy a print of it. Sketch will be getting lots of snuggles in gratitude tonight. :D

Congratulations. Your work is always very nice. You may never know, but wouldn't it be heartwarming if your photo reminded the buyer of a pet he/she had lost recently?

that's wonderful and very inspiring! I haven't made any random sales yet, as all of mine have been associated with events I have covered. But your success (and that lovely shot) gives me hope! clap.gif

It's the colours and the pretty cat. Looks like Halloween [my fav holiday] I'm going to have to stash this in my cue of "things to buy with fun money (when I have it)" I want one too!!!! I'd hang it in my witch flying over the moon frame. :D Seriously, give me some time, I want to buy one!

Thank you! I'm sure it's just a matter of time for your own random sale. I follow your threads and you have some amazing shots. thumb.gif

How did you light that smoke? Is it a cigarette? I'm having a hard time properly lighting really thick smoke. What' the set up - lights and whatnot.

I actually used one or two sticks of incense. You only need one off-camera flash (or strobe, which is what I used) and a very, very dark room. The tricky part is severely controlling the spill of light. Here's a how-to I read before attempting it: http://www.photocritic.org/artsmoke-photographing-smoke/

It's equal parts frustration and fun. :D
