Tips on Increasing Sales

We are an online news publication serving our town and surrounding towns and villages. SmugMug sales have been flat for a few months now.

Any tips on increasing sales? What steps have some of you taken to market your photographs?

    I cant speak for fine art print sales, but I know sales on Long Island are way off on sport pictures, people are spending more on gas and times are tight. I am hearing this both from fellow photographers and potential customers .so instead of relying on the surrounding towns sport leagues I am looking for more Event work.
