New Camera - Dust Issue

I finally got my 40D and the photos I'm getting are wonderful, but the dust is driving me insane.

I know everyone deals with dust and I shouldn't be upset about it, but it keeps showing up and always in the same place :scratch

My viewfinder had a spot in one place....now it's moved to another
spot :scratch I know the viewfinder spot is a non-issue, but it is an annoyance to see it there sometimes. That I can live with, but the other dust that is showing up...and not small dust either...just one nice glob of it in one spot. I was wondering if there could be something sticky on the sensor. I've taken a quite a few photos that I have dumped because its just to large for me to correct with my little PP skills.

Any help/suggestions would be help me out. I'm ready to return the 40D and go back to my XTI.

Do you clean your sensor?? If not then you probably ought too and make it a regular routine if your in very dusty area............I clean mine a couple of times a year just to do it......and a lot more often in the summer months due to the amount of kansas land in the air...................:D:D:Dthumb.gifthumbthumb.gifthumb

I've never cleaned my camera....sounds terrible doesn't it, but my XTI was so good at shaking off dust. Only twice did I take it into the Camera shop to have them clean off some stubborn dust.

I've had this new camera for 2 wks -- give or take a day or two. I just can't believe it can get like this so quickly. And shaking it off....nope. I see I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get some cleaning stuff and ...... learn to do it myself. Oh these shaky hands are going to have to learn to be steady rolleyes1.gif

I've lived in Wichita area....you do get a lot of land blowing in the air rolleyes1.gif Just like up here I get a lot of ND land blowing in the air.

That's hard to imagine with the 40D
I have taken close to 20,000 with mine and never had much of a dust issue.
Sensor shake and a blower has worked wonders.Even in the view finder.
You sure it's not a spot of oil?
I would be careful wet cleaning because of the dust catcher around the filter.
One slight move off with the swab and get will smear the gunk all over.
Learned this on my first 1D MK3.

Try giving it a good blowing, run the shaker a few times.
Next I would use the dust delete feature which requires the software.

I took my camera in again this afternoon and they are ordering me another one. They think there is a problem with something on there....more then just a cute little dust bunny :D

He tried blowing it several times but the bunny just wanted to stay on there...it did move alittle and become more clumped up --- if that makes any sense. Yeah..I'm thinking it was some kind of oil. It even took on a funny color after blowing it.

He didn't want me to try to clean it, wait for me to order the stuff I wanted to use to try to clean it or send it into Canon. So....next week my new camera should be here and this one will be boxed up and returned. In the mean time they let me hold onto this one till the new one comes...bunny included :D
