friends & family without smugmug account

Hi, is it possible to allow certain type of access such as allowing viewing and comments for guest/family accounts, but without a smugmug account? My friends are not into photography and so they would not benefit from having a smugmug account, but I would still like to give them some more power in certain galleries every now and then.

Currently not. In my view, it would be nice to enable this via OpenID (which smugmug supports)

Seems like there should just be a free account option. Give it no ability to upload anything -- it would just be used to access private galleries, make comments, etc. I'd much rather share my photos with my family and friends that way than having to mail around private gallery or sharegroup URLs all the time...

This is precisely why I´ve been suggesting allowing multiple passwords for galleries and multiple categories per gallery.

They would make sharing with friends and family a lot simpler without having to creat logins (which I think are a drag and a waste for just sharing but could be fun to allow posting and editing captions for a few friends/family. I don´t want grandma to need a login though)
