street fireworks

I didn't get the chance to shoot "real" fireworks this 4th, but I dragged my tripod out into our cul-de-sac and captured some simple street stuff with our neighbors.
All were shot at ISO 100, f/11, about .6 to .8 of a sec, with the 17-55 2.8 lens. I shot RAW with daylight WB and the processing basically involved some cropping and a bit of USM.
These may not be much to write home about, but they're the best of this type of shot I've been able to get so far. Now, I have a bit more confidence to try the big stuff sometime!

Thank you, Aaron, Mary and Josh!
If I can do it, Mary, so can you! I shared my camera settings, and there are plenty of others who have as well. Don't be scared. :Dthumb.gif

Thanks, Josh. My tripod must have been reasonably steady, even though I was clicking the button by hand. I even forgot to turn off the IS, which I heard you should do on a tripod. I was pretty close to the action, so my shutter speeds weren't really all that long. I think most credit goes to the 17-55 2.8 IS lens. Picked one up yet? :D

Good for you! Sparklers are fun! You can get someone to make cool shapes or even write words if your camera is on a long enough shutter. This isn't a great shot, but it'll give you an idea.

My husband's name is Seth...can you see that here? :D
