Small Town 4th of July
The little town I live in has some pretty good event turnouts. I was lucky enough to land the job of shooting for the city in my own style.
My day began around 5:30 pm showing up to the local park before the crowd which would be allowed in at 6pm.
The Mayor was on hand and for $1.00 you received three chances to dunk him in a dunk tank.
Several water bounce toys were set up for the youth to cool off from the 100 plus temps.
The Girls HS soccer team was on hand for a skills contest
Little guy giving it his best shot
Sack Races, Pie Eating, Watermelon Seed spitting, and Wiffle Ball Tournament also rounded out the events
One of the crowd favorites was playing with a real fire hose. Kids were allowed to hold the hose and adjust the nozzle while spraying down anyone wanting to get wet.
Oh yeah- he likes this
All lined up
Many of the kids just enjoyed playing in the water
Patriotic Items could be found almost anywhere
Being official has its priveledges. I was told, "Yes you can take pictures, but don't put your face over the holes!"
The sun began to set giving off a little show of its own.
Wendy Peffercorn made an appearance
Oiling and lotioning, oiling and lotioning...
and of course it wouldn't be 4th of July without a firework show. The show lasted almost 50 minutes however it was lacking a little (from a photography perspective). Not a big burst or much of a finale due to windy conditions. :deal
Thanks for looking :lust

I'm curious to see what the fireworks look like in full size. I notice that some of mine look fine when they are small, but when you blow them up they don't look tack sharp

This one is fabulous. Really incredible light, and good composition too.

Great fireworks shots--very clean, good color, no nasty smoke from the blasts to muck up the shot. Sometimes a little wind is a nice thing to have. It looks like everyone had a great day.
Thank you Karrie

I agree it is nice to have the smoke blown away but in this case there was a storm in the area so they had to light everything by hand. Pretty much eliminated a finale or big bursts.
Still a great time and event.
