OH - What to photograph in Raleigh?

I will be accompanying my wife to Raleigh NC. I will be on my own while she is teaching a class - means I am limited in the distance I can travel (though I will have a car to facilitate:D) from Raleigh and still get back in time to enjoy dinner with her.

So, I'm looking for help/ideas for short day-trips, in and around Raleigh for photography purposes.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

If you have a GPS punch in points of interest or the likes.
I been amazed when I travel and do this what I come up with.
Also helps you to get back in time for dinner:D

I live near Raleigh and work for the State of NC in Raleigh. Head out to Jordan Lake, lots of stuff there but a lot of bugs. Raleigh is a nice city with some pretty architecture if you're into that. The Museum of Natural History is free to the public and so is the NC History museum (across the walkway from the Natural History). There's plenty other photo opportunities.
