I've decided to commence a university IR series starting with Duke University and this is the next one: Appalachian State University. The university is growing quickly and there is much construction so it can be hard to get some good angles. Here's some highlights from the gallery:

#2 is pretty dope, i like it. in the 3rd one there's kind of a weird block shadow towards the top of the tree, if you can fix that in PS then that one would look a lot better. nice pics.

I've had a mountain house in Boone for over 20 years. I've seen this university grow tremendously during that time. Your pictures are well done. I hope some of your pictures in the series capture the great variety of art displays that are spread around the campus.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Jason - thanks. I agree - the freaky shadow thing was a surprise to me - I took two shots from this position and it showed up in this one.

    Tom,
With the surge of the athletic programs, there is a ton of new construction and the architecture is really beautiful. They are even starting a new nursing college up there.

The art is really nice to see but in IR it doesn't show up too well - it doesn't reflect so exposures are really hard to set. I had taken some but I could not do any post that looked good.

Thanks for commenting - I hope you still get to spend time in Appalachia!

Thanks Dan - its actually the most un-elegant part of the campus - the tower is for the exhaust from the facilities plant but the composition from the top of the hill looked so cool to me.
