Google Maps Alternatives???

My wife is wanting to start a photo website and she want the front page to be something like Google Maps. Is Google Maps customizable as far as the icons that appears on the map? For example, can those be changed to black dots or something else?

Also, are there any alternatives that are compatible with Smugmug?
