Got this nice one of my son giving it his all - literally - during his last soccer game. Of course, it would have been better from the other side (facing him) but what can you do?

Still worth sharing, I thought...

If you had more of the ball, it'd be a better shot. But what makes it a great shot is the memory you must have.

Thanks, yeah, I concur. Sometimes, I wish that 200mm was actually about 175 for that exact reason, hehe.

    soccer kickin'
Rob - I just bought used 300 f4. Give you shots like this one of yours - that life like clarity - assuming it's focused sharply!!! Of course!! Just have keep my feet moving to zoom/crop!

Just used once so far on couple of kids baseball games the other night. WOW! Pretty nice, IMHO. Those shots I put on my 'shoppix' Flickr site, since not for sale etc. What a difference a prime makes.

I'm shooting some field hockey today and tomorrow near Boston. It's the Bay State Games, a statewide, Massachusetts 'olympic' games. My daughter (a HS senior in the Fall) is playing defense. Using my 70-200 2.8 Sigma, and the 300 with a D300 and my old D70s(awful ISO)

    kids baseball w/300 f4
Here's the actual first shot with the 300 f4. ISO was on 1250, which I forgot to lower from previous evening shooting, so kind of noisy. But still, the image POP's!!
