Does anyone have any galleries of urban decay, or old buildings? Stuff like urban exploring around areas unseen by most people? I really like photographing run down buildings and forts in the Bay Area.

Here's some of my photos as examples.

Here's a few web sites I found about urban exploring and old buildings.

    Great photos! thumb.gif

It's becoming difficult to find these run down areas in my city but they are places if you look hard enough. What is so interesting about these photos is the feeling your looking at a past, almost like viewing the old ruins of past cultures.

    Thanks,

Some good shots posted so far. Here are three that I took last week that probably fit this description. The first appeals to me most personally, but I've put the other two up for good measure. I couldn't quite get a composition I was happy with, but something of the grafitti covered, doll's house appearance of that building made me keep coming back to it.

All three were taken in the East End of London.

    Regards,

    matt

I am just wandering around, happened to pick this thread. I love old bldgs. The problem here is that they are used for crack houses, often. The ones I really like are. And as I live here I watch them really decay. The historical society won't let anyone tear them down, so I have no photos. I am scared of crack dealers and people who might not like me photographing their neighborhoods. I tried it, the photos sucked because I was scared.

I do have some I could put up. Industrial places that are still used. but that is not why I posted.

Nir that is so cool. I cannot imagine. Is it a memorial, maybe when I go to your site, it will say.

I like alot of these old bldgs, love the old brick with the colors, but Warsaw, it is so special.

I have taken pictures in a few dangerous places, most of the graffiti I captured is only located in run down areas prone to squatters. It's really best to stay away from there places and only venture if your with close friends or someone you trust.

As for finding urban decay it's almost everywhere if you really look carefully. I was riding my bike around and stopped by an old grave yard where I found that "Keep out" sign. Here's some other pictures to add to the thread. These are all from SF.

I most certainly can't go anywhere around this town or even through any town in western Pennsylvania without seeing urban decay.

It saddens me to see structures once of great importance left so neglected and taken for granted. But decay and neglect of once great and mighty machines or buildings I can't help but be fascinated by..

    Closed buildings, etc.
I once stumbled on a site that gave ways to break into abandoned buildings and structures, and tunnels.... specific directions.

It was interesting reading, a definite "armchair" walk on the dark side for me. I'm way too timid to do anything like that.

But in the bay area there are lots of places that are abandoned looking and photographable.

By "back burner" list is starting to get too long, and I'm going to have to bring them forward.

There's this old deserted looking feed building near the railroad tracks in Berkeley I've been meaning to photograph, but we were always on our way somewhere else and the light wasn't right.

If I don't hurry up and get there it will be torn down!

There's another neat building in Daly City I'd like to photograph too.

Some of the photos in this thread are amazing --

There's always the thought in my head wondering who the architect was, and what it looked like when it was brand new, and why it's deserted and abandoned now.

Even locally, two restaurants have gone out of business, and I hope someone moves in before they too get this abandoned look to them.
