Polo

Tim and I ventured to the Will Rogers Polo Grounds in Pacific Palisades. My snaps of Will Rogers (Los Angeles) versus Dallas can be found here:

The is the second polo match I've attended. The whole thing was way too relaxing to work hard. Even the match was relaxing with 7 minute Chukkas then a 15 minute rest. I was hoping to see these wild cavalry charges with horses and riders slamming into each other at full gallop ... nope ... not gonna happen ... a great games for old men and Nuns. All-in-all a very enjoyable and restful experience.

    Hardly anyone plays polo where I live (Finland).

    That would hurt the horses and then you couldn't call it polo anymore. mwink.gif

    lol3.gif After a day shooting at Santa Anita, your expectations must have been too high! Your shots make it look more exciting than it sounds. Restful can be good, too. :D

    Hey "restful" is great ... just wasn't quite prepared for "restful". Next time I'll take a cooler, some cavier, cheeses and the Cook (my Wheaten). When one expects a roller coaster and ends up on a gondola ... it's just different ... not necessarily bad ... just different.

    Every now and then there was some real action ... but there also was a lot of this

    Nah, we're just hung up on harness racing, show jumping and dressage.
    Wouldn't mind a trip to CA, we'll see :D

    I think the amount of action depends on what the riders handicaps etc are.....I've seen some rough and ready polo around here! Great shots though, good job!

    It seemed like a very high caliber of competition, one city against another. One guy was wearing a team "USA" jersey ... so what handicap does an Olympian (assuming he was on the US Olympic team) have?
