I'm looking for a way to go from horizontal to vertical on my tripod. I have a Nikon D200 W/MB Grip. using a 410 gear head. I saw A L bracket on "The really right stuff" site. But not sure if this is what I need. It looks like I would have to buy the plate and the L bracket at $$$$$. looking for a less costly solution, HELP

What you need is something compatible with Bogen like this:

Exactly what the doc ordered... Thx
The Bogen L-type bracket is a lot cheaper than the RRS L-Bracket and it will fit the Manfrotto RC-2 QR system.
However, it is not, IMO, as neat as the RRS bracket because the bracket doesn't follow the countours of each camera and is generic.
It is possible to replace the RC-2 quick release system on a Manfrotto head with an ARCA Swiss compatible mount and to take advantage of the RRS L-bracket.
Kirk Enterprises, Jobu as well as other manufacturers make Arca compatible mounts. Be careful of Giottos because their supposedly ARCA Swiss compatible Q.R. systems do not necessarily fit all ARCA Swiss compatible plates.
Right, I look at the plate and the 410 gear head is different. Thanks
