videos won't play in IE7 when the site is protected with a password

I have the following problem.
My videos didn't play in IE7. I tried on my XP machine and my Vista machine (both updated and with latest flash). No problem with Firefox, videos played nicely.
Then I took away my general password (password for my entire smugmug). Now the videos played fine in IE7.
I would like to put my password back, and still have people with IE (incredibly enough still a big bunch of people) able to watch my videos.
Could you sort this out? Thank you for your time!
