I just got the smug mug account working and I'm thinking about using it as a easily updatable gallery of my work (on my own website I use custom made flash galleries, which already are really out of date that I hope to soon replace with just a small amount of top-quality images) but I've heard many horror stories about images being stolen. So I decided to make a watermark today and wanted to get some feedback:

I think watermarks are highly personal and how they're built is a matter of taste and suited to the developer's need.

This one's easy on the eyes. Can be placed almost anywhere and doesn't really detract from the image at all. It could be used on marketing collateral as well.

My personal preference is a low-key watermark like the ones in your examples so the customer can still see the photo well and picture what it will look like on their wall. But at the same time, I like one that covers a pretty large area like maybe all the way across the photo so it's very difficult for the casual screenshotter type of thief to use the image without lots of photoshop work to remove the watermark. Mine is a simple light gray one that extends most of the way across the photo and is just visible enough to do it's job.

I like it. Not only does it work as a watermark, but it's a nice signature.

Nice watermark. This is going to get me thinking of busting open the pen tool and making one. I'm using a standard large watermark across my photos.
