I've read a few threads about watermarking and still I've not made up my mind on how to watermark.

The last option is rounded box with the following text:
© YEAR NAME SURNAME.

See this example:

from this gallery.

I know that this is simple to remove. My main goal is mainly promotional, that is, if you take the pic outside the context of the website, (e.g., link or download) then the name and copyright is there.

If you want to remove it, I don't care (unless I discover it). But I don't want to waste the time of honest people watching the pic, especially because photography is not a job to make my living.

How do you consider this watermark compared to other approaches, e.g.:

taken from this thread

and also, why should I put/not put the year in it?

Thanks, Sergio

If you´re interested in just getting credit then the top option is a lot less annoying and more explicit about the credit than any other. My two cents.

I think Haigh makes a good point. That said...I would feel just as violated if the work was stolen - whether it was for sale or not. The easier it is to clip the more often it may happen. I didn't see the deer watermark as too intrusive.
