I was amazed during an Aikido demo the other day and just had to take a couple of pics. These guys make it look so easy and effortless to throw another like a rag doll. I do not know if this is a sport or art but it sure was great to watch them go full speed.

I've always thought that the martial arts is one of the hardest thing to photograph in terms of composition because you need to somehow capture a photo that conveys power, speed, motion and grace while the subjects are moving and quiet peace and strength when the subject is still. -- not an easy task at all!

I think you nailed it. thumb.gifthumbthumb.gifthumb

Wow Dan you get all kinds of great subjects!

I have tried aikido before and it was a lot of fun. It's a lot easier than you'd think to throw someone, or to be thrown. Give it a shot sometime after a rough day? lol3.gif

Anyway, thanks for sharing and I love this set. The expression on the man's face in the third is priceless, as is the serenity of the first. thumb.gif

Thank you schmoo. I try to take pictures of subjects that are not as main stream and if it is main stream, I try to capture it in a way that is not generic looking. Someday i might even accomplish that goalheadscratch.giflol3.gif

Next week I am attending my friends 3rd Dan test. I can't take pictures during the test but they will allow me to take pictures of the Demo afterwards including the Iaido demo with real swords. clap.gif
