Finaly got some decent dolichopid fly shots, they always seem to turn as shutter pressed. a couple others added also.

Dolichopids can be a pain as they seem to react to the pre-flash - I've taken lots of photos of the bottom of their legs
Think the spiny fly must be a Tachinid.

i used canon 100mm macro+ full set kenko tubes for first 3 shots & 36mm tube for last 2 shots.

used manual flash, there for no preflash i presume.

Hi Phil, I love the composure of image number 3, and the holes in the leaves make for a great forground and background in that shot.
My mother likes the last shot, and want to know why it doesn't look like the flies she sees in the summer

thanks maxine, it is a carnivorous fly, seem to have quite a few around recently, they dont hang out with normal flys,lying in wait to catch a poor unsuspecting fly i guess.
