Bride and groom in a garden

Today I was walking in center town when I saw a marriage in the church.
As I walked near the river I saw that the photographer was someone I knew and I asked him if I could make some shots.
Here are two of them.
Unfortunately I was wearing my 580 EXII on the Canon 5D with the 24-70.
I didn't bring along the ST-E2 as I was not expecting to meet this guy.

I shot some 30 pictures and these two are the ones I can show you because they are good enough.
The others ... hhuuummm I have to shoot often and often to really master that flash.
And I don't really like at all this flash on camera...:cry
Any thoughts ?:D

I like both of these shots. Perhaps you could brighten them up a bit? ne_nau.gif

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

    bowdown.gifRichard. :D
I had a lot of work one on the right one to get some detail from the black coat while keeping the white from her dress.
I have given a soft tone in color on the back while maintaining the bouquet of the bride.
Unfortunately I erased the tiff files and I can only pop a bit more on jpg loosing some quality as you know...
I had not that work on the other picture, however.

    Saúde !:D

I agree with you comment about the on-camera flash - it usually is not that flattering/interesting. You did, however, do a good job of balancing the flash with the ambient - these don't look very flashed at all.thumb.gif

You said you had to do a lot of work to bring out the detail in the man's jacket while not blowing out the bride's gown - what color was the groom's jacket originally? Was it gray or was it much darker? In USA, usually the groom is wearing black so we don't have to worry so much about getting details in their clothing - the clients know that you usually can't keep detail in the gown and in the jacket in the same exposure and they are good with that.

    Hello Scott. :D
The costume is dark gray with snall dots in black.
Not the best explanation I know...ne_nau.gif

I have worked with different layers and masks.
    It turned out rather well...:D
