Event Guest Uploads Feature Request

I have a relatively new Pro SmugMug account and I'm still learning, but I'm not seeing this functionality --- I would like to have guests that attend events I shoot be able to upload their snapshots for sharing, printing, etc. I don't want just anyone to be able to upload. I want to provide a general password. I also don't want them to be able to do anything but upload, and only to a specific gallery.

The guest password just goes way beyond what I want people to do. I view the guest password as only suitable for an assistant.

I understand that you don't want to allow mini-SmugMugs within one account. However, this lack of functionality requires that I have an upload site hosted elsewhere and then upload the files to my SmugMug site myself. Then event guest and clients have to keep track of the info for both.

If you could add this feature, but restrict the time guest uploads are allowed after the gallery is created (sufficient for event guests to post, maybe 3-6 months max?), it would be an awesome Pro feature, save time, and add value to our clients.

Aside from the feature request, does anyone have any ideas on how to do this today, with and without SmugMug?

Thanks!

You might consider allowing them to email photos to your smugmug account. The gotcha on this is that it looks like there is only one email password, so if you're working multiple events I don't know if this would work for you. And it appears that the photos will all go into the same gallery - but you can easily move them.

    Info at http://www.smugmug.com/help/camera-phones.

email upload doesn't work for non-owners

I have encountered the same situation, and have even used the email photo option for non-administrators to upload photos - but it doesn't work! The photos that other people send me using the email option simply don't arrive (they are using the password in the subject line). For some reason only photos that I send by email arrive properly. Is the smugmug email option linked to specific sender's address?

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I understand. Why/how would i send a photo in text format? It's a photo, so wouldn't it simply be JPG?

The photo is an attachment to the email. The email itself should not be sent
in html format but in plain text format.
