Can someone say "detail?" Now if I only had the time to count the feathers on his or her head. thumb.gif

Thank to all for the comments.

Question: Are the pixels evenly distributed in a digital photo, or do areas of more detail have a higher concentration than those that don't?

Great shots, thumb.gif to answer your question, a digital photo is like a tile floor with no grout, all the pixels are the same size, in areas of high detail, the difference between the color of adjacent pixels is often greater, which could make it look like the pixels are smaller than in the large blue piece of sky were you wouldn't really be able to see detail because the colors are so close and blend.

Now if you're talking compression, a file without alot of detail is able to be compressed to a smaller file size because there are the same number of pixels, but enough of them are the same color that the algorithm used to describe the image doesn't have describe as many different colors.

    hope this helps...
