Ospreys in a cell tower

Pair of ospreys behind where I work has set up housekeeping in a nest used last year for 2 chicks. This may be them. So far no chicks. Hard to get a good shot as the tower is very high. Will be watching them for any chicks in the near future.

They seem to like high, flat places. Here in RI they are protected so that nest cannot be disturbed. We have seen pairs mate in that nest for the past 3 years. Yesterday, I tried to get closer for a better shot and they both circled me and squawked letting me know, in no uncertain terms, that I was getting too close. Believe me, that cell tower is high. Those pics were taken with a 500mm Sigma and are about a 50% crop. I would love to get better pictures of them but distance and height are an issue, not to mention they don't like company too close.

I must say the Sigma 150-500 OS is a sweet lens. I also have the Sigma 80-400 OSclap.gif
