Backlit Garden Lily

I took this photo of the lily grown in one of the pots in our garden. I had taken it indoors to get it out of the wind, and carefully aimed a desktop lamp upwards toward the centre of the back of the flower. A bit of work (well, a fair bit) encouraged the colours and textures to come through nicely, and the light I carefully worked on in PS to localise on the very centre of the flower head.
C&C as always appreciated.

what lens was in use here? did you do any stacking techniques?
Aaron, it was the Sigma 105, no stacking involved. The light was ambient, plus a directed desklamp only.

I really need to work out spot lighting methods like this. Parts are on
hand I just haven't seen the shot yet.
I wasn't planning on using the lamp, but when needs must, as they say...

Agreed... I picked up a microscope fiber optic light source and "light pipes"
that I hope to use in efforts like yours. Think it will work out to be a really
nice tool.
