Finally took some time to process a few shots from a couple weeks ago. I was pretty much wandering a park after dark and experimenting with settings along the way. Let me know what you think!! :D

1) Portion of San Diego Skyline from across the bay

2) Another portion of San Diego, same bay, different rocks :D (Contrast may need some playing with, but it gives you an idea)

3) Swings at rest (almost at rest at least... stupid tiny little breeze shook them just a bit...)

4) I call it Requiem (mostly because the lighting on this playground at night sorta spooked me! :rofl )

5) And last but not least, A bridge, a path and a little TOO much fun with "Muench Stars" :D

    Awesome
Wow. these are great. I'm terrible at night shots. Any tips on how to get clean, crisp shots with full color and no blur? THanks and again great job!

Honestly, I can't give you a clear "This is how you do it" mostly I just play around... I guess it all starts with a tripod (all these are on my tripod) and it doesn't need to be a spectacular expensive one, mine cost $10 at the swap meet!

Then I just use a light source to find my focus point with the auto focus, generally flip it to manual focus then so it won't change no matter how much I recompose and then I just shoot away... I'm still at the point where I'm trying to figure out which settings really do what and how they affect the other settings, so these are out of maybe 200-250 shots I took that night trying to get the best composition along with the best settings!!

Hope that helps some!! Thanks for the compliments!! :D

No special filter required... I just remembered that at some point I had read a thread here called... hmmmm.... headscratch.gif Something along the lines of "Post your Muench Stars here" maybe somewhere in the Landscape forum... ANYWAY... if you search the forum I'm sure you'll find it...

Pretty much you close your apperature down as much as you can (this one if somewhere around f29 I think) and take your shot... At night you need to be on a tripod, I think this was a 30 second exposure, but durring the day if you're trying to capture the sun as described in the other thread, I haven't had a problem shooting hand held...

    Thanks for looking! thumb.gif

Nice job with the "Muench Stars" and thoughtful compositions in each
longish exposure. I like #2 most though #1 is equally sweet. Thens theres
#5 telling about the park goings on in the evening. Lots of people enjoying
the night by the bay. thumb.gif

I like them all, but the last one is a thumb.gif

I like how the Muench Stars compliment the curve of the path and the lines of the trees.

    Thanks DaddyO!!!!! :D

It's the perfect time of year for long nights down by the water... looking forward to another night of it tonight... I only made it through about a quarter of the park, so there's a lot more to explore!
