Armored DVD media

I'm not sure how many of you backup your photos onto DVD, but if you're like me, unless it's stored in a vault, they tend to get a little worn after a while. TDK has had some DVD media out now for a while now that they call Armor Plated. According to TDK, it is 100x more stratch resistant than normal DVD media and can easily fight of ink and smudges. I've tried some myself and have put it though various torture tests and it came through without a scratch.

Of course, there is a down side....they cost about $6 a pop.

Just thought I'd pass that along. Here's a couple of links for it.

You need to put some pretty deep gouges in media before it's un-readable.

I'm with Sid. Keep it in a sleeve.

I decided to go with backing up to DVD instead of hard drives due to price. I figure that every year or so (depending on the state of the disk, where blue-ray is, etc) I can just make a copy of that DVD and then it is "fresh".
