Soggy Cascades

Despite the certain forecasts for rain in the Cascades, I foolishly set out for a hike. Forecasts were spot on with steady rain which soaked everything I had. I had to cut my hike short due to thunder & lightning so there isn't a cohesive theme to these photos (other than being taken today!).

2. Got the idea for this shot from another DGrinner's post last week. Shot taken from INSIDE a log-

Sorry you had to cut your hike short, you got some nice photos. It figures the forecasters would be on that day, they can be so off so many times. I really like the perspective in #2 and the splash of red in #4.

Man if that isn't a set emblematic of the northwest in mid autumn I don't know what is! At least we're getting some rain this October last year it seemed pretty dry.

My favorites are #1, #2, and #4, but it's a really good set overall.

Gorgeous! And I agree, Kelsey's idea from shooting inside the tree is a GREAT idea to switch up the perspective. I love it thumb.gif

    Thanks for the comments, everyone.

True, I did have to cut my hike short but it did give me more time to explore on my way home. I saw so much that I returned today and shot a lot more in the river valleys. It's going to take me a day or two to cull through and process some photos.

Anyways, here's a photo of the log I squeezed into for photo #2:

nice set, Steve... hope the gear didn't get wet... eek7.gif i really like that flash of red in #4, and i just love the depth, the layers, and the misty, moody feel of #7... nice.

Great series. Nice job on #2 especially, although I wonder what it would look like in HDR. Love the northwest in the fall.

    Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I could process #2 as an HDR but I think that would reduce the log's effectiveness as a scene framing object..

Excellent series to portray your part of the country--all very well done! My faves are 6 and 7--I really like the context of the fog and mist. And that log shot is exceptional! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
