@Professional How do you like the 804RC2 head? I have the same 190XPROB tripod legs as yours, was thinking about that head but got an off-brand version of it because it was way cheaper. which reminds me.. time to update my gear list :D

thanks for participating, and I must say... thats quite a list of gear you have there!

    Thanks!

I love my 804RC2 head, but many prefer using ballheads, and i upgraded to Gitzo tripod series and RRS ballhead and i never look back.

I have more equipment i didn't added there, if i have to write the full list of my gear that may take full long page.

Even 25 ago I was asked and lost jobs due to not having the equipment that clients thought I should have to do the job............I had an in-depth discussion with a prospective client and knew exactly what kind of product he wanted shot.......so i went an bought a similar item and shot it on my kitchen table with a non Hassleblad camera and produced a 30x40 print.......from film from a manual 35mm camera with a 70-210 lens........I waited until I knew the work had been done and was paid for and then I presented the company's Pres. with that print and the accompanying slide with several pin holes so it could not be used in the future and the print had my siggy in gold and was stamped on the back.......

I did get work from them later on and charged him out the waaaaazooo
    Then the company folded:cry

Signatures get jammed up with stuff (gear) that shouldn't be there. This is a way to make your signature smaller so its easier and less annoying to read threads. And people that do want to see what gear you have... or what you have for sale... or anything random you want in your sig but don't want to take up the space... they can view your post on here.

The "5 step dummy" process... Is for those that are not very good with computers... I know there has to be a few on here. I figured I could save time by explaining the whole process for those that are still stuck back in Large Format Camera times (not saying that those are bad cameras cause they're amazing and I'm not saying old people do not know how to use computers cause alot of you do! just a figure of speach)

    .

As to the sig line.......personally I think if your equipment list is too large for your sig line then put it on your website and link to it......even if that means creating the list in photoshop and saving as a jpg, or gif...........

I do not see any advantage of listing in another thread................that seems a little unprofessional..................

I can see your point coming from a clients perspective. However, I do not intend on linking a client to a forum, so they can see my gear. If a client will only hire me based on the equipment I use, I dont want to work with them. I only work with people that want me for me, myself, and I alone.

The point of linking to another thread in your sig is to give other users of the forum a list of everything you use. So that when you ask for suggestions, they can see what you have to work with. Similar to how most people will venture over to your website to see your work when you make a critique on someone's photo.

Example A. Photog A asks Photog B how to use off camera flash. Photog B clicks on the link to his gear post, sees that photog a has two SB800's (one is his main flash, the other is a backup), no lightstands, no transmitters, no umbrellas or other modifiers. photog b makes suggestions based on the equipment listed.

Example B. Photog a asks photog b how to use off camera flash. Photog b checks photog a's profile to see that only his camera body and lens is listed. Photog b assumes photog a has no flash, and suggests to purchase one and then further suggestions would follow. Photog a explains to photog b that he, in fact, does own two SB800's. photog b states he didn't see it listed, and embarrassingly suggests him to read the strobist blog.

Now, you say, why not just list it all in your sig to begin with? Because huge signatures get very annoying when trying to read through posts. I started this thread back when I mostly checked this site on my Blackberry. On the blackberry long signatures become VERY annoying. To the point that I started hating when certain people would make posts.

So, in the context of which I meant this to be used.. it is not unprofessional.
