Don, this is on the northwest side of town, just past Halibut point on Rt. 127. It was taken from next to the Lobster Pool restaurant.
Pete, I looked closely at the image to determine what that thing that looks like a person is. It seems to be a wooden pier with the top carved. No one else was crazy enough to be out in the 20 degree F temps and 35mph winds. My wife wouldn't even get out of the car.
Beautifully presented!! I could look at it a long time.
Yes, the 'person' on the left is very distracting once you notice it. I'd just burn in the brighter parts until the whole thing became less obvious as what it is.
Would love a tip as to how you achieved the coloration. Very successful effect!
Peter and Neil convinced me to remove the totem-pole thingie. Neil, the image is made from 4 bracketed exposures processed though Photomatix Pro. I then bumped up the saturation and brightened the highlights with Photoshop. Glad you like it.

Appreciate the history, Mike, thanks very much! I was giving serious thought to Photomatix myself just the other day. You've got very affecting mood and color in this pic, I do indeed like it.
