While you do allow customers to select Quick Settings or Thumbnail orientation when creating a new gallery in the web UI, if they:
Forget (as happened often with my guest uploaders),
Are using the the Picasa uploader,
Have an Eye-Fi card linked to SmugMug
They do not have a choice of thumbnail orientation. The only alternative is to fix them after the fact.
So, barring you fixing the root problem (allowing us to set defaults, or select a particular Quick Setting as our default), it would be nice if you fixed these problems:
Bulk setting multiple galleries to a particular Quick Setting does *not* trigger thumbnail rebuilds
Using Customize Gallery (with or without Quick Settings) to change thumbnails from square to original does not properly fix the thumbnails for videos. (Using Bulk Adjust Thumbnails doesn't fix them either.)
Tangentially related to this bug: Just noticed today that changing the thumbnail orientation in an Album's Settings now *IMMEDIATELY* triggers a rebuild of all of those thumbs to the new setting. (Did not find this here: http://releasenotes.blogs.smugmug.com/)
Hooray. One less trip to the Tools menu to "adjust thumbs"
I suppose I should test if applying a Quick Setting that contains "original thumbs" will also trigger the rebuild. But I'm feeling lazy now.
