Well, you've seen my shots from the 7d at 4000 in a really nasty-light environment; I suspect if it had merely been a bit dark rather than blacklight+tomb those might almost have been decent shots .
I'll try 6400 at some point and see what it does, although I suspect it may not be too elegant. That said, like you, I'm quite prepared to torture my files to see what I can eke out of them, if only as an exercise! Watch this space
So for those thinking the 5d2 doesn't do 25k (yup I said iso 25600), it does, kinda. You underexpose at 6400 by 2 stops then bump in post by 2 stops.
Am I missing something here? My 5d2 does 12,800 (H1) and 25,600 (H2) ISO ... simply set C.Fn 1 -3 (owner's manual page 193) properly and even get an "L" setting of 50.

Yeah I think you're missing the point that most folks "say" the 5DMK2 won't produce a decent image that high, versus not actually having that setting!

As soon as I saw your image titled "Bedtime for the Overworked Tog," I loved it. They say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", and that is certainly true with this picture. The scene is phenomenal, perfectly composed according to the Rule of Thirds. I am interested in a 30x40 canvas print of the image. I think it will go nicely on the wall of our guest room. Our guests can stare at it as they doze off to sleep. Obviously, for the quality of this image, I'm willing to pay above the normal price for this size. Please contact me as soon as you can. I can't wait to hang it on the wall.
