Hi, I'd like to trade my Mint Canon 17-40L for a nice condition Canon 1D Mark II N(does not have to be super mint) + Money to you. I would like to deal with someone in the NYC and NJ areas only. Please PM me with Shutter count, any repairs, and pics. I do not want to sell the 17-40 outright, YET. I only want the Mark II N. Thanks so much.

I don't have a Mark IIn, but it seems like you want one, plus cash, for your 17-40. But since the 17-40 is worth less than the Mark IIn (approx. $600 vs $1000) it seems like you would have to trade cash along with your 17-40. Just a heads-up.

There are several MKIINs listed at FM, POTN and naturescapes.net
Its a great body for introduction to the 1D series. Loved mine when I had one.
Experience has shown me that trades of this nature are hard to come by. I have listed many times to trade and 90% of the time I end up selling then buying and find it actually takes less time. Believe me I get the desire to keep it simpler with a single transaction, just seldom seems to work out.

Yeah you would think with that many people in one area, problem is how many of them are members here? Its hard even when you list across multiple boards. Harder yet when its a trade up the ladder like a 5D+$$ for a 5DII. About the only chance one has for that is if they just happen to luck up and come across someone in financial crisis who doesnt want to be without a camera. Every now and then you see postings trading down for the same reason, bit off more than they can chew.

He will eventually. The average going rate on these is about $950. I can see a little bit of premium for a nice copy but its a bit overkill, I wouldnt go over $1150 with all fees included. Trust me when I say he wont sell it at that price and will end up eating crow. For that much you can chunk in another $300 and get the MKIII listed here or $400-$500 get one listed pretty much anywhere. I had a copy like that when I upgraded to the MKIII and sold it for $1800 but that was before the MKIV came out and the cost of other models dropped with the domino effect. Wasnt that long ago MKIIIs were going for $2800-$3000 then along came the MKIV and the value dropped $1000 on the used market very quickly.

Edit:I just saw where this was bought from another member less than 2 weeks before posting of this ad, it was listed for $1450 from that seller but he probably took less.

Ill keep a lookout for you though.

Thanks JIT! I've been wanting a II N for a while and gave up cause I couldn't afford it at the time, hence trying to trade the 17-40, which won't work on the II N anyways. I love my 30D, but wanna see what this heavy fast machine will do.

I missed out on one on ebay last year that was in good condition for $700. :[

Not on 5D or any Mark series to my knowledge. It works great on my 30D and the XSI when I had it...

I'm currently using a 1DMIIn with a 17-40 and love it! The 17-40 isn't an EF-S lens so there should be no problem using with any Canon body afaik. Just FYI

All EF lenses work on all EF and Efs mount Canon bodies, L lens or not (all L glass is EF mount). The only exception I know of is the 35L for some reason doesnt play nice with the MKIII in AF.
The only time one runs into problems is with the EF-s glass. they work only on the APS-C (1.6 crop) bodies. I always try to advise folks to go forr the EF mount. That way if you change to a different sensor size you dont have to change your entire lens collection to go with it. The EF-s lens will physically mount to a FF or APS-H body but you wont be too happy once you hit the shutter and break your mirror.
