    Shell creek
For places to go in general all around the carrizo area between 58 (north of carrizo) and 166 (south of carrizo). I like the road that is marked as the way to aliso park (a national forest trail head camp ground). That is on 166. On 58 shell creek road and 58 is another excellent spot (rolling hills with lots of flowers).
If you want to see paradise simply look around and see it.

So let's stick with the original plan of Saturday.

Anyone else going to have a walkie-talkie? Worth setting a channel in case someone is late or gets separated? Don't count on cellular coverage.

OK, looks like I convinced my peeps to try to make it. :D We'll aim for heading down on Fri, camping somewhere in the area and heading back to SF Saturday evening.

Anyone else bringing ND filters? I will bring mine. Just got them so this will be the fist time using them. Be nice to have someone else that has experience shooting with these. If not, I guess I'll fumble my way through.

Man... not looking forward to being on the road at 3AM in the morning. Have to get to bed early tonight.

Just told my wife what time we're meeting. She didn't look too happy. eek7.gif

She's the early bird though and is why she said that she'll be surprised if I wake up. I'm good though. No different than heading out to surf at 4am. mwink.gif It's when she wants me to get up that early to go to some early morning sale or something that for some odd reason I can never wake up.

The only one with any experience with split NDs is Marc, unfortunately.

No worries. I'm a fast learning. BTW, will I be the only Nikon shooter again? Not a concern for myself, it would just be nice to have someone else along with a 'real' camera. rolleyes1.gif

I'm bringing my 5DMKII, Canon S90 converted to IR and my S95. Film-wise I'm bringing the Zorki and the Horizon Perfekt. I think I'm going to enlist Zach to help carry. I'll have a little pack to strap on him. thumb.gif

OK, through the use of Google street view, I've got a solution to any confusion.

We'll meet at the 76 station. OK? thumb.gif

It was a beautiful day. Cold, hot, a bit gray and mostly sunny. A bit all over the place weather-wise, but always beautiful.

The flowers were a bit of a disappointment. There were areas that were carpeted, but over all not like last year, when there were more flowers more fully developed. One of the interesting things I've read in the reports, beyond the weather's affect on the flowers is that this is a typical year, and that it's very rare to have to spectacular years back to back. It takes a lot of energy to bloom like that. I guess they need to recuperate.

I have to agree with Dave. However, still had a great time. Good people, good weather and beautiful scenery make for really good times. Just glad I brought my beef jerky... nothing else but rabbit food in bags. ne_nau.gif

Here is a little teaser from yesterday.

I love how the Horizon shots came out in color. And yeah, OK I am going to get my own scanner at this point because you just can't beat the price of develop only. lol3.gif

Alex, I love the clarity of all of those shots. I forgot to use your Secret Processing Tip when I did my set, oops!

(I'm going to start taking advantage of the SmugTrainer from here on out, that's for sure)

We can talk about it more elsewhere, but color on my slide scanner is really, really tough. At least so far. I ended up having to buy a PS plugin that only runs in 32bit mode. BOO!!! CVS couldn't scan my odd-sized frames, anyway.
