Continuing with an annual tradition, here is a thread for everyone to post their top photos of the year. It has been quite successful in the past, and I really enjoy seeing everyone's best work. Moderator feel free to make this a sticky for the next couple of months. So happy shooting in 2012, and here are my choices…

Honorable Mention: Winter's Warmth
A sunburst captured among aspen trees in fresh snow. Dixie National Forest, UT.

10. Proxy Falls Magic
Water cascades through the forest and foliage of Proxy Falls in the Cascades range of Oregon. Proxy Falls, Oregon.

9. Reflections
An abstract view of the sandstone edges and lines accentuated by reflected light in a remote slot canyon of the Arizona desert. Arizona Desert.

8. Misty Mountain Morning
The glowing mist in the predawn hour over the distant Cascade range in Oregon.

7. Meltdown
A cave carved through a small glacier deep in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness.

6. Aspen Abstract
Slight intentional camera motion during the exposure creates an abstract image of a forest of aspen trees in several feet of fresh snow.

5. As Seen From Above
The glowing mist in the predawn hour over the distant Cascade range in Oregon.

4. Enchanted Meadows
A mountain stream runs amidst wildflowers during a fiery display at sunrise in Oregon's Mt. jefferson Wilderness.

3. Blue Sky at Night
The milky way frames a mountain peak on a remote moraine filled with melting glacier and icebergs in the Thee Sisters Wilderness.

2. An Autumn Morning
Autumn foliage revealed through the morning mist in the Smoky Mountains. Tennessee.

1. Pillars of Light
A dazzling display of reflected light on sandstone pillars in this remote slot canyon of the Arizona desert.

My top 10
I just finished my top 10 list for my site. I have been concentrating my landscape photography on my town. Luckily we have it all - ocean, beaches, ponds, foliage, 300+ year old houses... I feel like I've only scratched the surface. In no particular order (though the first and last are my personal favorites):

1. Alone in the fog

2. Sailing across the harbor

3. Sometime around midnight

4. Reflections at sunset

5. The Fly-By

6. Fourth of July

7. Purple Dawn

8. Two Seconds at the beach

9. State Street

10. The Supermoon Sets

Angles and reflections
First day shooting with a recently purchased WA lens. A group of photographers from San Diego took a road trip to LA to visit the Getty Museum. Spent so much time shooting with my new lens that I almost forgot to go inside to the art galleries.

I hate choosing. Some days I like my second ten better than the first. It's a great excuse to dig through the yearly files though.

well, mine aren't gonna compete with Chris's, but here they are... my 10 favorites from the past year, in no particular order...

1. Elowah Falls, Oregon

2. Mt Rainier at "blue hour"

3. nightfall at Ruby Beach on the Washington coast

4. forest light along a nameless stream near Mt Rainier

5. a fox kit in Mt Rainier national park

6. dappled light on a stream in the woods SE of Enumclaw, WA

7. autumn on Lake Boren, not far from my place

8. another shot of Elowah Falls, Oregon

9. autumn leaf

10. a mountain stream up in the Cascades somewher NE of Skykomish, WA

Gosh, there are so many gorgeous photos in this thread. My shots don't hold a candle to these, but I'll throw my hat into the ring. I spent 6 months this year working in Yellowstone National Park so most of my shots are from there. Here they are, in no particular order.

1. Canary Spring in Mammoth in black & white.

2. Great Fountain Geyser at sunset

3. A yellow pond lily in Isa Lake between Old Faithful and Grant Village.

4. This is the trunk of an aspen tree that caught our attention while we were out hiking. What caught our attention is the fact that a bear climbed this tree. Can you see the claw marks? The bear (most likely a black bear) also had dirty paws; we could just make out smudge marks under the claw marks.

5. This was on my way to work one morning.

6. Fourth of July in West Yellowstone, Montana. They put on a nice display.

7. Fall in the Tetons. It was very hazy due to a perscribed burn along the southern base of the mountains and zero clouds.

8. Without any clouds, Schwabacher wasn't very exciting to me, but I liked the calm water near the parking lot and the golden color of the cottonwood trees.

9. Sunset over Swan Lake Flats and Electric Peak.

10. Firehole Falls with a sugar-coating of snow.

very nice series, Brett, but i really like "Into the Blue" at Ruby Beach, and also "Sunset Run" (looks like Second Beach?)... excellent work!

Some great work here, especially 1,7, and 8. I'm still amazed that these are from the mountains in the LA area! You did a great job making them look like a scene hundreds of miles away in the Sierra Nevada.

I really love #7 (Zen). Did you use a ND Grad with this shot? Seems like the tree's branches got caught in the ND Grad's transition.
