That third mono version works well. Don't need color with light like that. thumb.gif

Indeed, and mono was the original idea. I just liked the colour too - the eyes and so on just worked. And that colour on had no PP at all other than a touch of sharpening as you do from RAW. Was very pleased with myself for getting it so good in camera. :)

    Cheers

Two and three are indeed stellar!

How many takes did you have to do to get the light just right on her eyes?

Erm, a few. I initially had another light and was trying to get a little fill behind her, but it wasn't working. We decided to go in close, and above. katarina is also a photographer with a studio of her own, and knows her way around, so she really helped in getting the light in just the right place on her eyes. She took a few blinding flashes to get it right, too! Bless her!
Had to adjust the tilt of the slats in the blind, and the angle of the light too. The light is gridded as well. Few changes of lighting power, and of Aperture to get just the right shadow detail.

But none of it was stressful - Katarina is prepared to wait, and try and try again until it's sorted.

    Thanks

Last three are absolutely fantastic. My only nit on the first one - and I have the same problem with the other set of portraits of her you posted - is that the lip stud badly jars with the 40's/film noir look for me. YMMV, but if they were mine, I'd just clone it out -t he makeup, poses and lighting are SO good that it's a shame for a small something like that distract! thumb.gif

I know what you mean - I suppose if I'd be going completely for the look I would have cloned it. But I just accepted it - sort of like a modern take on the theme.

I am planning some Pin Up with a model with a load of tattoos - definitely out of keeping with the genre (based on the old stuff) but brought up to date.

I may clone the stud, and have both! :)

    Cheers

I'm with Hackbone, #2, cover shot imo. The mono version is a close second. Adding that camera to the last was a great touch! Great thinking on these!
