[Fixed] Featured Photos not displaying in visitor view for Passworded Galleries

Having an issue with Featured Photos not displaying on the visitor view for Passworded Galleries. Have set and reset multiple galleries' Featured Photos to no avail. HELP!!

In the gallery settings, turn "External Embedding" on:

This sucks. I don't want to have external linking on because these are proofing galleries - and I never had to allow external linking before.

Logged in - looks great!

Logges out - looks broken! :pissed

I have over 100 galleries like this. Will we be fixing this? Or should I come up with a new plan?

I have submitted this to my dev team to investigate...I will update you as soon as I hear back.

Any way to follow this? I am having the exact same problem. I'm not about to allow external embedding, but its embarrassing to send clients to my site and have zero photos to show on the gallery/folder pages.

Nobody can do nuthin' with a passworded gallery without the password. No searches, no web crawlers.
I have external embedding on and all pubic stuff on. It allows me to post a family photo in my blog
when I want. Also allows the feature photo to shown.

This is rather insane. I mean, they can't even view the featured thumb? How the heck do you even make use of these then? I don't think the dev team understands the issue, or something.... Do they even comprehend how it used to work in the Legacy Smug? Why are all of these kinds of things changing?? It means people would have to go into hundreds/ thousands of galleries, change all kinds of permissions, and/or completely re-do their organization or even get a whole new site! Some of this stuff has really gone off the deep end, I tell you.

Just doing some cleanup. To confirm, the Feature photo for a password protected gallery does now show.

You're correct-- I cannot see any feature photos at all on that page. Just blank thumbs and blank thumbs with a padlock.

It doesn't work for me either.

My gallery http://dutchphotographer.smugmug.com/National-Parks/Best-Landscape-photos doesn't pick up the photos from a passworded gallery unless I login or have entered the password for the gallery before.

I just set a feature photo for the 4th folder, Stephanie and Michael.

You need to manually choose a featured photo for folders in the Folder Settings.

Not sure where you are pointing to. That link goes to the gallery, and I don't see any galleries or folders on your site (after a very brief look) that don't show featured photos. Can you provide more information?

So back with old SmugMug, I used to create a sub category that was something like:

When all of the photos were uploaded, I would go through each 4 galleries and set a Feature Photo to show. SmugMug would just randomly choose one to display for the sub cat. As with all of my client galleries, they're password protected and external sharing is turned off.

If I am logged in, I see this when I navigate into one of the sub cats:

I guess the point is that it doesn't work like it used to, and if you had Featured Photos set before, the setting didn't really carry over.

In legacy the thumb on the category page was taken from the first gallery in the
first sub-cat I think. Might feature thumb on the first one shown on the folder page.

Sorry, my fault. I mixed up not seeing collected photos from a passworded gallery with not seeing the featured photo. The collected photo from passworded galleries is already a listed bug ( that I hope will be fixed soon, it's a very annoying bug).

You are 100% correct. The featured photo must be taken from a gallery with external links turned on. I removed the feature photo on the folder i added it too, btw

I'm not really comprehending all of this statement. Also, why is this being called "Fixed"? It doesn't appear to be fixed, really. I think people are expecting that there's no reason this shouldn't work as it did in Legacy SmugMug, yet it doesn't seem to be doing that. Or is there something I'm missing? (I don't understand the statement: "I removed the feature photo on the folder i added it to" )

I don't understand why it's marked "Fixed" either. I clicked on a problem link mentioned in post #12 and the problem appears to persist.

He hasn't chosen featured photos for those folders, that's why it is not showing for you. If he chooses the photos, they should show. We aren't automatically setting featured photos from Password galleries

I have set a featured image on my galleries and folders and the password protected galleries will not show up. I've also tried to add a page showing all my gallery types and they do not show up. Has the bug (mentioned above) been fixed? Please advise on my website: lizkphoto.smugmug.com. Thanks.
