One of my favourite species of hover. Big, Bold and non-reflective

And an opportunistic crop

This one I see quite a few of by our Begonias and African Daisies. I think it's Melanostoma but not certain

Wonderful series Ian.
Not H. trivittatus though - they don't have the facial stripe between the antennae and ocelli - H. pendulus I think.

haha, Again, thanks for the ID Correction Brian. I kept on swapping between pics of Pendulus and Trivittatus and couldn't decide. Eventually thinking it was the latter.
